Hand in hand with Porsche Leipzig

Tradition, innovation, individuality, efficiency and team work. These are all values which are true for Porsche as much as for Neue Nikolaischule. So it seemed only natural to transfer these common features into a partnership. In the summer of 2004 Porsche Leipzig and Neue Nikolaischule decided to start a co-operation which was to be filled with life during that very year. The starting point for this partnership was an event with presentations by the management board of Porsche Leipzig. The contents of this event comprised the presentation of the Porsche Factory Leipzig, which was opened in 2002. Another important element of the presentation was the introduction of training possibilities within the company of Porsche. At the end of the event the management board answered questions by the students of Neue Nikolaischule. In December 2004 a Christmas party was held on the premises of the Porsche Factory to which the school choir of Neues Nikolaigymnasium made an important contribution. The performance by the choir contributed to a very successful event.

From 7 until 11 November 2005 Porsche Leipzig carried out the innovation game „Youth thinks futures“ together with the grammar school Neue Nikolaischule. 25 Students from the 11th grade were given the task of jointly developing ideas for possible trends in products and services for the future during these five days. „The automobile industries live on innovation today and they will continue to do so in the future. The initiative „Youth thinks future“ playfully asks young people to develop innovative ideas and to align those with entrepreneurial activities“, Siegfried Bülow, managing director of Porsche Leipzig GmbH explained. „Supporting the young people in this has also been very instructive for us. We need committed young workers with intelligent ideas and a fascination for technology.“ Further interesting projects, such as e.g. an excursion of the business management courses with a tour of the factory, application training and further presentations are planned for the future.

For the second time in a row Porsche Leipzig presented itself on the occasion of the open day of Neue Nikolaischule on 14 January 2006. For this event current models such as the Cayenne, 911, Cayman S and the high-performance sports car Carrera GT are exhibited in the schoolyard of the grammar school every year. Employees of the company explain the functioning and the technology of the vehicles to the pupils and to guests of the event and hand out information leaflets.

For the first time 10 pupils from Neue Nikolaischule will have the possibility of doing a two-week internship at the factory in Leipzig this year. Porsche is looking forward to an interesting and successful co-operation with Neue Nikolaischule.
